Client :: IWAM_Discovery_Xfer is locked

Subject: IWAM_Discovery_Xfer is locked
Everyday I find the IWAM_Discovery_Xfer user account on the PC that is collecting my data locked. Once I unlock the account I am able to receive updates from my clients for that day but it will lock again at somepoint over night. The application, security and system logs show no errors until I get the following warning on W3SVC in the system log.

The server was unable to logon the Windows NT account 'IWAM_Discovery_Xfer' due to the following error: The referenced account is currently locked out and may not be logged on to. The data is the error code.

This is a new issue as I have been running Discovery for over a year.

I am running Discovery 2006 feature pack 1

Does anyone know what might be causing this account to be locked?

Hi,

You could e-mail your AGENT.LOG file to your reseller - this log file should provide more information on the cause of the problem. However it is very likely that the problem is due to the way LANprobe Messages were processed in 7.0, and upgrading to 7.1 will resolve the issue.
If you are seeing this on 7.0 I would recommend you test the upgrade to 7.1 which makes some changes to how lanprobe messages are processed by the server.

If you're still seeing the issue on 7.1 you should contact your reseller's support team.

I've come accross this as well but managed to make peace with it for the time being, mine however goes the other way and my registered count is 2 less than my used licence count

Not a problem for me so far but I do realise eventually i'll need those licences so any info will be greatly appreciated by me as well!

We are experiencing a large volume of these messages appear in our messages folder, different from the messages in the format of:

2A2C9200-D3D233F9-A32F030F-33AE3EDA.F0000000

I recognise these as being machines with issues running the client following our latest system upgrade and new client agent, a removal and redeploy appears to do the trick.

I'm unsure as to what is generating the lanprobe.F0000000 files we already have up to lanprobe.F0000559 generated and all these files are really cluttering the folder.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would be grateful if anyone can help with a minor, but really annoying oddball I've come across.
I have 775 licenses for Discovery.
If I look in HELP-> ABOUT it shows that I have 747 used licenses, and no disposed computers.
If I run a query on STATUS->REGISTERED it returns 750 machines.

I do NOT have any registered clients in the recycle bin, and queries on Status = "Client Removed", "Disposed" and "Unlicenced" all return no results.

So how can I have 3 more registered clients than used licenses?

The answer is probably really simple, but it's driving me potty!!

Most of our PCs are daisy chained through VOIP phones (Cisco 79xx series).

All PC details are reported to Discovery, however all that is returned from the phone is its MAC address. If the PC network cable is physically removed from the phone, then phone details are reported. We don't want to do this, is there another way round it?
